If only I could tame the time,
And teach it dance and serve me tea,
I'd change my life and make it rhyme
With wisdom of eternity;
I would embrace the endless space
And lull it like a little child
With smile relaxed upon my face,
Like that of mother, soft and mild;
I'd feel like being everywhere,
As patient, as an ancient tree;
I'd make a dream of the nightmare,
And sweet reality of the dream;
I'd be a pretty able guy,
And pretty useful for the world,
If only I could tame the time,
At least the way I'm taming words.
