My parents need a diploma. From the diary by Sveta Dergalova.

Every month my parents send me money so that I study well, so that I successfully graduate from college and get a diploma.
I, personally, don't need a diploma. I do not pretend to any career achievements, I am just a weak girl who wants to live a pleasant and carefree life.
But my parents need a diploma.
When I will get my diploma, they will feel themselves good - because they gave me the "road along life", they "secured my future". After receiving a diploma I, personally, will have to take care of myself and of my future - they fulfilled their parental duty.
They feel themselves bad without my diploma.
And I, whatever I am, with all my advantages and disadvantages, I love them.
And if they feel themselves bad, then I feel myself bad.
I don't want them to feel bad. And so I try my best, I study, I go to classes.
But the most interesting thing for me are youth events, concerts of youth ensembles, where young people gather, where I can have a nice chat with cute boys, and where no one is interested in studying, grades, or diplomas.
I remember how great we had a good time a month ago. There were cute boys - musicians and singers - an ensemble - from Moscow.
The girls arrived from everywhere. Some girls even came from city of Voronezh. They ordered tickets online.
I achieved to visit the concert for free. After the concert, I managed to get to know the visitors from Moscow and we, - the guys from the ensemble, the girls (those who succeeded to get to know the Moscow guys), - we had a great night.
Tomorrow there will be an evening of youth amateur performances. Boys and girls from everywhere will gather. It's going to be a lot of fun. I hope it will be pleasant.
In the meantime, I need to take my mind off pleasant thoughts and to study.
Actually, I need to think about my future. Maybe a marriage certificate will be no worse for me than a diploma?
My parents look at life differently than I. But they will see that everything is fine with me and they will calm down about me.
But then it will not be their merit (because they help me with money every month and they ask me regular how I study), but the result of my own efforts, it will be my own luckiness.
The days when parents arranged profitable or successful marriages for their daughters are long gone. Now parents are interested in their daughters' studies and diplomas.
