There is only a memory from the post-revolutionary times (approximately 20s of the 20th century). A great hunger came. After World War II, the family had a strange opportunity to improve their well-being.
Vladimir Vasilievich's father returned from the war as an invalid and lost his ability to work. His wife, Vladimir Vasilievich's mother, got a sewing machine somewhere and began to sew for a wide circle of acquaintances - for a fee.

The wife of the disabled person continued to sew and receive payment for it, while the disabled war veteran went to spontaneous markets with goods and sold clothes made by his wife.
By coincidence, the money was kept in different savings banks, and after the Stalinist reform, the value of deposits suddenly tripled. (Larger deposits have depreciated, it seems, three or ten times ... Insignificant bank deposits remained one to one - that is, they grew relatively three times).
So, by the beginning of Vladimir Vasilievich's activities for the benefit of his native submarine fleet, the family had certain financial resources.
Any project, especially if it is started from scratch, goes through certain stages.
At first, the scientific and technical enterprise, organized by Vladimir Vasilievich, was located in numerous premises located in different parts of the city of Rostov-on-Don.

Let's imagine such a hypothetical option.
There are a hundred patriotic Soviet citizens. At one time they graduated from a secondary Soviet school, graduated from an average Soviet university and began to work. Their average salary ranges from 90 to 120 rubles per month.
A genius Vladimir Vasilievich appears, who has not only scientific and technical ideas, but also the ability to get money for these ideas - from the capital's authorities. Suppose their boss collects twenty rubles a month from each of them. Twenty rubles multiplied at one hundred is equal 2,000 (two thousand) rubles a month and 24,000 (twenty-four thousand) rubles per year.
The employees are happy. They receive not one hundred rubles a month, but de facto one hundred and seventy. Is this a bad change, a salary upgrade?!
Having 2,000 (two thousand) rubles a month and 24,000 (twenty-four thousand) rubles a year, you can safely build a scientific, administrative, whatever, career, acquire fame, titles, etc. etc. It's necessary, of course, be ready to react to unpleasant situations ...
And if the family upbringing and the education hinders to collect 20 rubles per month from a person? In this case, after the most difficult initial organizational period, the person - the organizer of the project - can be pushed aside, and a more sensible person can be put in his place.
When the business is established (and there are financial resources), applications are drawn up, sent for approval, a means come under applications, etc. New, quick-witted employees may also come - from circle of students. A general structure has been created that works and which absorbs the efforts of average people. In general, the absence of the original organizer-after the launch of the project - this could be considered (from a certain point of view) as a non-critical, not so significant circumstance.
Another episode can be associated with the financing of defense from family funds.
It is impossible to regularly visit the capital and important institutions, and - at the same time - not communicate with anyone and not be familiar with anyone.
In the capital, Vladimir Vasilievich met some important person, possibly the son of some minister.
Apparently, there was a certain level of trust between them, and somehow this man spoke to Vladimir Vasilievich, in the sense that Khrushchev is causing a bad attitude, people are tired of Khrushchev, Khrushchev will be removed, soon.
For a provincial scientist, to hear such a words was like being present at some unexpected, impossible event. But he showed restraint.
A little later this acquaintance said something like this: "We will remove Khrushchev at the next plenum!"
The plenum passed, but Khrushchev was not removed.
An acquaintance then explained the situation: 'It didn't work out! But on the next one we will definitely remove Khrushchev! "
Really, at the next plenum, Khrushchev was removed. He was replaced by Brezhnev.
It can be assumed that this acquaintance of Vladimir Vasilievich was a rather influential person. However, no matter how friendly the people were, they had to meet somewhere, visit restaurants, make some kind of courtesies, dress well, take a taxi, etc.
For a secular way of life, Vladimir Vasilievich lacked a simple salary of an honest Soviet scientist-patriot, especially of the human who financed the defense of his native country from family funds.
So there was no information left about the continuation of acquaintance with the influential person in the capital.
But the fact of patriotic economic actions (purchase of a car, payment for gasoline, spare parts, repairs) remained in the memory.
The correct use of family financial resources allowed Vladimir Vasilievich to devote more time to hunting for scientific and technical achievements for the benefit of his native underwater Soviet Navy.
