The plots of world classical literature in the biography of Vladimir Vysotsky. An essay by a modern Russial cultural observer.

According to one of the biographical versions, Vladimir Vysotsky personally visited the Minister of Culture Pyotr Demichev three times.

Vysotsky came to Demichev with a request to assist in the release of records by the Melodiya company.

Demichev received Vysotsky affectionately, Demichev was indignant that Vysotsky was facing difficulties, Demichev made strict calls to responsible comrades and demanded that they immediately release records of Vysotsky's songs. (During Vysotsky's lifetime, Minister Demichev's strict demands were not executed.)

After portable cassette recorders became available to Soviet citizens, almost the entire population of the Soviet Union knew the surname "Vysotsky".

The surname "Demichev" was known to those who read newspapers and listened (watched) to radio and television.

The attitude towards Vysotsky was emotional (positive or negative), towards Demichev - zero (neutral).

Thus, from the point of view of public "weight", Vysotsky was much superior to Demichev.

However, from the point of view of bureaucratic "weight", on the contrary, Demichev was superior to Vysotsky.

Thus, Demichev's bureaucratic position was "hanging in the air" and depended on his ability to perform (to play) various roles.

Having personally met Vysotsky, Minister Demichev found himself in great danger. Any wrong step he took would have received a wide public response, and his (Demichev's) public "weight" could have become not positively-zero, but negatively-zero.

In this situation, Demichev was forced to skillfully play the role.

"To be, or not to be?" - such a question arose before Demichev. In the play, which was performed in Demichev's office, we can find Demichev playing the role of Hamlet.

I admit that playing this role could have been pleasant for Demichev: A spectator like Vysotsky was equivalent to a huge array of theater audiences. Any actor is pleased to perform in front of spectators who understand art.

The ghosts of the fathers, Lenin, Marx and Engels, hovered over the actor and the spectator.

If there had been independent observers in Demichev's office at the time of his communication with Vysotsky, such persons could have felt - additionally - the creative vibrations of the ballet "Swan Lake" starring Leonid Ilyich.

Many people sympathized with Vladimir Vysotsky. Some tried to help him. As a rule, such attempts encountered bureaucratic obstacles.

One of Vysotsky's acquaintances, after the unsuccessful attempt to assist Vysotsky, invited Vysotsky to a restaurant and told him about the opposition from influential people.

Allegedly, Vladimir Vysotsky, after listening to his friend's story, exclaimed: "For what?!!" "Why do they dislike me so much!!!???"

In these words, we can hear the voice of Akaky Akakievich Bashmachkin (Nikolai Gogol "The Overcoat"): "why are you offending me?" ("penetrating words: 'stop chasing (offending) me, why are you offending me' - and in these penetrating words rang other words: 'I am your brother'). [Unofficial translation]

Thus, both high-ranking employees of bureaucratic structures and Vladimir Vysotsky were proceeding a mutual creative influence on each other.

In many situations (from Vladimir Vysotsky's biography), we can discover plots from world classical literary works.

(The author considers this essay to be a discussion culturological hypothesis).
