The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) operates the James Webb Space Telescope (launched on December 25, 2021).
STScI is the science operations center for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), science operations and mission operations center for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), and science operations center for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Telescope or WFIRST, a NASA infrared space telescope - in May 2020 was named after Nancy Roman, one of the first female executives at NASA).
STScI was established in 1981 as a research center for astronomy research.

The staff at STScI consists of scientists (mostly astronomers and astrophysicists), spacecraft engineers, software engineers, data management personnel, education and public outreach experts, and administrative and business support personnel. As of 2021, the total number of STScI employees (including those of the European Space Agency) is about 850 people.
