Tenor on the seashore. A one-act play out of the life of the creative elite.

  ACTING CHARACTERS:

The Tenor. A white straw hat. A canvas white suit. White canvas shoes.

A man, dresswd in white shorts, a white t-shirt and flip-flops. A Cuban cigar.

A boy, who is collecting shells.

A woman, dressed in a blue work robe, and with serviceable sandals.

Lerry - he is talking to the Tenor by the cell phone.

A captain of the "Scanner" ship.

A powerful choir (sings along to the tenor offstage).

  LOCATION OF ACTS:

The sandy shore of the Sea of Azov, covered with fragments of wood ('gifts of sea') and various kinds of garbage.

  Act I.

The Tenor walks along the seashore, admiring the horizon.

The sound of an approaching car is heard.

A man ("Chel") appears next to the tenor. Chel is dressed in white shorts, a white sports T-shirt and slippers. A Cuban cigar - in his mouth.

  The Tenor:

  - Do you have a Cuban rum?

  - Somehow I didn't buy it, due to absent-mindedness.

  - So you, the next time you fly, do not forget!

  - I'll try not to forget.

A man dressed in white shorts heads away.

  The tenor thinks aloud:

  - Maybe to buy some kvass? But - I need a money, a financial means.

A boy is walking along the shore, collecting shells.

The tenor says to the boy:

  - Boy, go to Uncle Li, ask him for some coins. He lives nearby. Do you know where?

  - Yes I know.

  - Well, give me your cellophane bag with shells. You will run more quickly to Uncle Li without this packet.

The boy hands the tenor a bag of shells and runs to Uncle Li.

The Tenor looks at the shells in a transparent plastic bag and thinks aloud:

  - It is not yet known whether the boy will get the coins, and the shells - here they are ...

A woman appears, dressed in a blue work robe and in serviceable sandals.

  The Tenor addresses her:

  - Listen me, you hit the road, with maximum speed, to the shop of my friend Abe. He will give me some coins. Ask on my behalf.

  The woman leaves quickly.

  The boy returns.

  - Uncle Li stroked my head, but didn't give me any money. He introduced me to his guest, a woman banker. She also stroked my head.

  - Okay, go ahead, collect the shells further. The bag (the Tenor points to the package of collected shells) remains with me.

  The boy leaves.

The woman (in the blue robe) returns.

  - My friend Abe gave nothing? - the Tenor asks her.

  - He gave a book about Ivan the Terrible. And about Astrakhan.

  - Okay, give me this book. Maybe something will come in handy.

  - Here's a book.

  - And you - start to cook something, any dish, out of shells. A some product!

The woman begins to collect branches and garbage, kindle a fire, takes out a little metal pot and a bottle of water from somewhere, and begins to boil shells (in the pot) on a fire.

The Tenor takes out a cell phone, presses the button:

  - Lerry! Hello! Is there money? Can you borrow a couple of coins? No? Not an easy situation with neighbors and family members? I understand... See you later, Lerry!

'I have to do without kvass,' the Tenor thinks aloud.

A woman in a blue robe finishes cooking shells:

  - Please, eat with gusto! Please, I ask you to eat with an appetite!

  - Thanks! go! work!

  The woman leaves.

Two monetary unmanned marine vehicles and a motorboat from the "Scaner" ship are approaching from the side of the sea.

The captain of the "Scanner" moves from the motorboat to the shore and reports:

  - Your luggage has been delivered from the straits. Stuck at the airport. I ask you to sign.

The Tenor signs for the returned suitcases.

The captain puts one suitcase on top of another. It turns out a mini-pyramid.

The captain, the motorboat and two monetary unmanned marine vehicles are returning to the "Scanner" ship.

After eating shell soup, as well as the shells themselves, the tenor feels a surge of strength and of good mood.

The Tenor approaches his suitcases, leans lightly on them with his hand, and sings:

  - It's a lot of diamonds in stone caves,

You can't to count the pearls in the midday sea!

["Sadko" - opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov ("The Song of the Indian Guest").]

From somewhere, from behind the stage, a powerful choir sings along:

  - Glorious sea, - a sacred Baikal!

  A glorious ship - a omul barrel!...

["Glorious Sea, Sacred Baikal" is a folk song of Siberia, Russia, which has been sung since the 19th century. On the base of verses by Dmitriy Davidov. Composer is unknown. ]
