Artemisia in pocket before repairing the space station. A note about the literary works of participants in space flights and about the book by Viktor Savinykh "Notes from a Dead Station".

The recent sharp dispute (in Latin) between the great children's teachers with usage of papyri and of parchments late at night, when the Pole Star took the most favorable position over the children's camp, prompted me to write another note about the Russial criminal sub-culture.

(The masteress of fencing with papyrus won the dispute, plunging the scroll right into the depths of the rivaless' argumentation - which led to the fatal conclusion of the dispute).

This criminal sub-culture is fueled by a multitude of life-giving sources inherent in modern Russia.

Let us direct our attention to literature.

Earlier, I drew some attention to thick magazines and the subject matter of the materials published in them. Naturally, like to everything in modern Russia, a servility is not alien to them. They are chewing the same themes that have been wandering through the pages of books, magazines, newspapers for about seventy years ...

My attention partly accidentally was touched by a fairly wide stratum of memoir literature, the authors of which are generals (retired). This literature appeared after 1991.

Where is the publications, discussion, where is public opinion?

These books are hidden in the depths of digital libraries - most of the readers are unaware of their existence. And those who read them find it difficult to come to an unambiguous opinion - especially when comparing what they read with today's reality.

Why did I remember the generals and their books? The generals created a separate literary fund.

But you can think about not only the generals and their books.

It turns out that a similar independent literary fund was created by cosmonauts and astronauts.

Some websites mention about forty books written by spaceflights participants.

Well ... this is interesting ...

Will I have time to read these books? ...

In any case, I had read the book by Viktor Savinykh "Notes from a Dead Station".

My opinion: the book's score is the highest.

I am (now) not inclined to write an extensive review (for many reasons)

I will only note that this book encourages thinking about the level of culture:

  (a) of technical culture,

  (b) of organizational culture,

  (c) of a financial, economic, entrepreneurial culture,

  (d) of a literary culture.

The highest level of technical culture, which is shown in this book, makes a huge impression.

Apparently, organizational culture - one way or another - was one of the priority issues and was at a high level.

The book's heroes' interest in finance and entrepreneurship is not noticeable at all. Perhaps these are not their questions? But, nevertheless, a vector of interest would be natural: we perform certain actions, and additional money comes to the space industry, to the country's economy. Let this money be relatively small - as, for example, in the case of space tourism. Space tourism revenues are probably not comparable to defense spending - in terms of size. However, it seemed to me that the vector of attention to income generation itself was not reflected in the book by Viktor Savinykh.

The text mentions journalistic and literary figures. I noticed two of them. It seemed to me that these people looked very pale. They do not express any interesting ideas, there are no mentions of any interesting results of their creative efforts.

If we talk about the low level of literary culture of the actors of the journalistic and literary process mentioned in the book I read, then taking into account the high level of the book by Viktor Savinykh.

It gives a very interesting and broad idea of the general culture and the highest technical culture of those people who worked in the field of Soviet cosmos. By itself, this book hints at enormous literary potential. But who will develop it? Generals who wrote supposedly useless books?

A separate topic is the issues of managerial kitchen, the topic of making strategic decisions. Parallel existence of Salyut-7 and MIR ... Huge prospects for Salyut-7 and the "sudden" termination of the operation of this orbital station ...

Who made the decisions? What motives were these space managers guided by? Who are they?

If these are people of the level of dear Leonid Ilyich (in his biography there are mentions that before being elected general secretary he was responsible for the space theme), then some illogical (debatable) strategic decisions become understandable.

The fewer people from the "generation of Korolev" became, and the more people "like Leonid Ilyich" came, the more interesting tendencies arose, and the more interesting events appeared.

The accident at Salyut-7 took place in 1985. "Arkhipych plucked branches of Artemisia (wormwood) and we put them in the pocket of our spacesuit to take with us to Salyut-7, which did not wait for us at all and did not respond to signals from the Earth."

  1986 came after 1985 ...

These are some of our brief statements in connection with the reading of the book by Viktor Savinykh "Notes from the Dead Station".
