Seven - one. The explosion in Beirut and the experienced, skilled sea captain, who was deceived seven times, and who one time showed resistance and foresight. The sketch of civilization.

From the twilight of recent modern history, in connection with the explosion in Beirut, emerges the figure of an experienced, qualified sea captain, Boris Prokoshev, who piloted the ship ("Rhosus") that delivered saltpetre to the port of Beirut. (https://www.sibreal.org/a/30767538.html)

This captain is interesting as a civilizational actor.

Where does a sea floating begin?

It begin with the pictures in your memory.

The agency offered the captain a job on the Rhosus. The captain recalled that he had previously worked as a captain on the Rhosus.

First deception. "[Prokoshev] met him [with the new owner of the ship, a former resident of Khabarovsk Igor Grechushkin], it seems he is a normal person."

Second deception. 'I see the whole crew is changing for some reason. It struck me as suspicious. I ask the captain: what's the matter? "Yes, everything is fine, everything is fine." The captain turned out to be a bastard, he did not tell me anything about the crew leaving due to non-payment of salaries. " (The individuals with a huge suspiciousness would take the most persistent action at this point.)

Greed. "The further the better, the more money I will earn."

Third deception. 'We got on the road, refueled, ordered what we need for the sailing. Grechushkin signed everything. And when it came to receiving an order - food, all sorts of consumables - he himself came and returned almost everything back to the suppliers, he did not pay. He said there is no money. "

Captain Prokoshev's display of prudence and firmness of character. '... he [Grechushkin] demanded from us ... to take cargo on deck in order to earn extra money. But he found such a load that it could not be put on the deck, on the hatches of the holds. It was heavy road machinery, one car was parked, the hatch cover sagged. We would have put the second one - they would have been all in the hold. The steamer is old! In short, I began to refuse. He ran into me, ran into me, he say to me, to strengthen the ship somehow. I already sent him a photo. But he doesn't care! But we didn't. "

The intention to further to be deceived. 'In principle, it was a possible thing to persuade the crew to reach Cyprus, but they did not let us out of Beirut.'

Fourth deception. '... And we were there for 11 months! We weren't paid a dime. And he [Grechushkin] didn't even buy food for us. We can say that he left us in a knowingly dangerous situation, doomed us to hunger. The port fed us.

Fifth, indirect, deception. 'They just didn't want to pay anyone, to keep the ship under a watching. And so - we lived there and willy-nilly maintained the technical condition of the ship. We didn't want to drown on the ship. " 'And the steamer eventually sank, two or three years ago. The ship had a small hole, it was necessary to periodically pump out water. And if there is no crew, there is no one to do it. " (Stereotype, standard thinking. If a responsible, qualified captain had not pumped out water, he would have left Beirut for home earlier ...).

Sixth deception. '... Customers from Mozambique. What's most interesting is that at first I didn't even worry. I think the customers still need the cargo, they will demand it. They will help out [they will free] the cargo, because they only gave a million for transportation. But buyers showed no movement, at all! "

Seventh deception. '- How much does he owe you? - Personally to me - 60 thousand dollars. To main [major] mechanic - 50 thousand, to third mechanic - about 20, to boatswain - about 10. (...)

You know how now ... I have a developer here in Sochi - I gave him a one million 250 thousand for an apartment. No apartment, no money. He was sent to jail, but the money was not returned! And there, in prison, he also died, that's all. I turned to lawyers - I have already turned to them a lot. It's just a waste of time. And I don't have that kind of money now, I'm retired [in a pension [retirement] mode]. "

In the psychological portrait of an experienced, qualified captain, one can see something in common with a typical representative, in whom we found such qualities as:

  (a) Conceit (high self-esteem),

  (b) Fear,

  (c) Greed,

  (d) (standard) thinking habits,

  (e) Forced obedience,

  (f) Powerless indignation,

  (g) Exposing, revealing (an attempt) of a secondary actors.

Some qualities are expressed to a greater extent, some to a lesser extent.

In principle, these are normal human qualities that do not interfere with the (free, not-paid) qualified work of an experienced specialist (with a throwery (fraud) at finish).

If previously experienced qualified specialists hoped for the state, in the new conditions they turned out to be absolutely unadapted to reality ...

In the case of "Rhosus" added such quality as "the ability to deceive in selfish interests" - the previous team deceived Prokoshev and the new crew of the ship, keeping silent about the financial circumstances of the team change and referring to the unwillingness to go to Mozambique. We also see a manifestation of firmness of character and prudence (when the captain refuses to place heavy equipment on the deck).

('Let's make two more small comments:

  (1) Let us express our sympathy for the author of the text, which became the subject of our analysis. Unpleasant situation...

  (2) We are looking at ourselves with suspicion ... Are we all like that? ...

And what were the qualities, for example, of the Titans of the Renaissance, pioneers, explorers? Of outstanding personalities in business, military affairs ...? ...").

In the situation described by Captain Prokoshev, there is also the influence of an illusory reality.
