New time, a gambling life. A story.
Kolya and Manya were studying in the same school, in the same class.
After school, they worked at the same factory.
The plant went bankrupt. Kolya went to work as a loader, and Manya went to work as a school cleaner.
Life was changing. Optimistic programs were shown on TV, they talked about the prospects.
New horizons were opening up, that's for sure.
At last, Kolya made up his mind. He went to the Job Center and signed a contract.
Two months of professional training, and now Kolya is the driver of a huge excavator. The bucket (ladle) is huge - with one stroke of the bucket, Kolya can prepare the half of a secondary school for a major overhaul.
Kolya's salary was unusually high.
Manya quit her job as a cleaner and received a bank card - so that Kolya's salary would come to this card.
Kolya was working well. Comrades appeared around him. All of them had photographs where they stood next to expensive cars. There were rumors that when the construction was completed, they would all be made bosses. Although no one promised anything concrete to anyone. But there is no smoke without fire.
After half a year, Kolya returned (for several days) from a remote construction area, and together with Manya went to the car dealership.
At the car dealership, they chose the most expensive electric car ('Novoborodets' of Asian origin, but locally assembled) and signed the documents about a loan.
Between conversations with comrades about future work as bosses (after the completion of construction), Kolya was showing his comrades a photo with the most expensive electric car. The comrades respected him even more, and asked him to work with the excavator bucket as efficiently as possible.
Manya quit her job as a cleaner and started to visit a driving course (Kolya got his driver's license while serving in the army).
Everything was going well, but a series of strange events began.
First, the exchange rate has changed.
Secondly, both Kolya and Manya received a call from a person who introduced himself as the Deputy Minister of Construction and explained that a very attractive banking products had been created for the most deserving people. Kolya and Manya took advantage of the information received. All the accumulated money was gone.
It turned out that this Deputy Minister was a swindler, a member of a criminal community, and many of Kolya's comrades lost their accumulated money.
Thanks for the credit holidays, they used such a measure. A useful idea. But still, Manya had to go to work as a saleswoman in a little shop.
Manya began to participate in the purchase of goods. Once on the way back they stopped at a roadside hotel. Manya refused: she never played billiards. Why does she need billiards? But, finally, she gave in. She took the cue in her hands. She liked it: it's not a bad thing. It turned out that she can even win money, the money will not interfere with her.
Kolya waved a huge ladle at the construction site, Manya periodically played billiards.
And when Kolya was periodically arriving from a remote construction area, they were getting into the most expensive electric car and drove to the shopping and entertainment center (in the most prestigious area of their city).
It was nice to drive through the streets in a sparkling car.
But the most pleasant thing was to park in a busy place, against the backdrop of a shopping and entertainment center, and, when leaving the car, to show everyone as themselves and so their expensive car.
And once Kolya was invited to speak at his native school - to talk about his hard work. Photos of Kolya sitting in a huge excavator and waving a huge bucket were very useful.
The children watched and admired.
On the way back from school, Kolya said that now he would work with the more enthusiasm. The admiration from the children filled him with new energy.
Manya looked at Kolya with respect, stroked his cheek and kissed him.
