Seryozha assumed that he would spend the entire first half of the day at school.
But suddenly the schoolchildren were informed that there would be no history lessons. All history teachers - throughout all the country - were suddenly called to conferences of various levels to urgently clarify historical knowledge.
Seryozha immediately found his two friends in the school premises, and they headed to the Philatelists' Club.
At the entrance to the Philatelists' Club there were posters: "Speed checkers tournament! Our friends - checkers lovers - will show their skills!"
A music was playing. Seryozha heard the words: 'We loudly praise the heroes of sports!'
The friends looked into a large room filled with stamp lovers and people with 'I play checkers' badges.
A man with important manners announced: 'The start of the game!'
'We will not enter here ... now ...' - Seryozha explained to his friends. - "Later we'll see... the award ceremony."
The friends returned to the entrance to the Philatelists' Club and quickly caught the little boys with the stamp albums. The examination of albums and postage stamps began.
Suddenly, a cheerful music was heard. People began to leave the club.
Seryozha was distracted from examining the postage stamps. He asked some girl with a 'I play checkers' badge:
- Why do people come out?
- The tournament is over. A game was by new rules. Speed checkers!
A several activists appeared with a large, beautiful packages. They took out white baseball caps with the inscription 'Checkers Lover' from the bags and started to distribute these baseball caps to everyone for free.
All those present somehow involuntarily rushed to the activists with free baseball caps. Among those wishing to receive a baseball cap were Seryozha and his friends, and their interlocutors (little boys with stamp albums).
A pleasant promotion to distribute free baseball caps created a relaxed atmosphere. Some kind of chatter started among all present about everything and nothing, and there was no way to continue examining the albums with postage stamps.
And then Seryozha with his friends had to go back to school for literature class. The curriculum included the story 'Bedbugs' (analysis of literary merits, analysis of the development of the creative views of the author of the story, a short discussion about 'the bedbugs' realism').
Seryozha and his friends were walking back to school wearing new 'I play checkers' baseball caps. They were outraged by the new rules of the game.
They felt frustrated by the fact that none of them had a new stamp after visiting the Philatelists' Club and examining the albums of little boys (stamp lovers). 'Who came up with them, these new rules!!!???' 'Let they roll far away off - these high-speed checkers!!!'
